ST. PETER, Minn. - The Southwest Minnesota State tennis team dropped three matches over the weekend in St. Peter, Minn. SMSU was defeated 7-2 by Minnesota Duluth and 9-0 by Minnesota State and Upper Iowa by a 6-3 score in Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference action on the campus of Gustavus Adolphus College.
SMSU (2-10, 1-7 NSIC) got both of its two points in singles competition as
Crystal Overbaugh and
Kayla Uphus won their matches. Overbaugh defeated UMD's Bailey Kolles 6-2, 6-0 and Uphus downed Delany Dobbs 6-1, 6-1.
Katie Kienitz, who matched up with Alyssa Brunelli in singles competition, fell 8-6 in the tiebreaker set (6-3, 7-6).
SMSU lost all three doubles matches, falling 8-6, 8-5, 8-3.
SMSU (2-11, 1-8 NSIC) dropped all nine games to Minnesota State.
