MARSHALL, Minn. — The Southwest Minnesota State University wrestling team was defeated by Augsburg College, 30-14, Thursday night in the PE Gym.
Augsburg jumped out to a 15-0 lead after four bouts with
Taylor Curtis losing by major decision (14-3) at 125, before
Anthony Luft suffered a lost by decision (9-4) at 133.
Landyn VanOverbeke at 141 and
John Weeding at 149 both suffered losses by major decisions.
Patrick Kelley put the first points on the board for the Mustangs at 157 as he won by decision (6-2) over Gable Frandsen.
Colton Vekved suffered a fall at 165 pounds to Austin Boniface at 4:33 to increase Augsburg's lead, 21-3.
Jacob Begin at 174 kept his winning streak alive as he won by tech fall at 5:30 to cut the Augsburg lead, 21-8.
Brody Goens lost by decision at 184 before
Tristan Ezell was taken down at 197 by fall at 5:36. Augsburg led, 30-8.
At 285,
Cole Wilson also kept his winning streak alive as he took down Jordan Reisinger at 2:07 for his eighth pin this year.
