SIOUX FALLS, S.D. - The Southwest Minnesota State University softball team (11-22-1, 8-9-1 NSIC) enters a critical stage of their schedule as they sit in eighth place of the 16-team Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference with two weeks left to play. SMSU, which has missed the NSIC tournament each of the last two years, is on the road today for a mid-week showdown with No. 13 Augustana. The NSIC doubleheader is slated for 3 p.m. from Bowden Field in Sioux Falls. The road game will be SMSU's first since traveling to St. Peter, Minn., on April 2, to play Minnesota State. SMSU went 5-4-1 in its last five NSIC doubleheaders played at Mustang Field.
SERIES HISTORYAugustana leads the overall series 47-13, including taking the last seven contests. SMSU is just 2-23 all-time on the road versus Augustana with its last win coming on May 1, 2007 (10-8).
