OAKDALE, Minn. – The Southwest Minnesota State University women's tennis team dropped a pair Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference matches on Saturday night at the Lifetime Fitness Tennis Center. SMSU opened with an 8-1 decision to the University of Mary, before losing 8-1 to MSU Moorhead.
In the first match versus U-Mary, SMSU (1-8, 0-7 NSIC) picked up its only win at No. 1 doubles as
Gabby Tellijohn and
Katie Kienitz earned an 8-5 victory to improve to 2-3 overall, including 2-2 in conference play.
U-Mary improved to 2-5, 2-5 NSIC, with the match victory.
In Saturday's late match,
Ashley Hoehne earned SMSU's lone victory with a 2-6, 6-2, 1-0 (10-3) at No. 5 singles. Hoehne is now 3-6 this season, leading the squad in individual victories.
SMSU returns to action during its spring break trip in Phoenix, Ariz., where the Mustangs will play five matches from March 9-13.
