OWATONNA, Minn. - The Southwest Minnesota State University women's tennis team suffered a lost in its Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference opener against Minnesota State, 8-1 on Friday night.

The No. 1 doubles were the only Mustangs to tally a point in the lost, as Gabby Tellijohn and Katie Kienitz earn a 9-7 win.

Minnesota State led 2-1 after the doubles as the Mavericks won the No. 2 doubles 8-3 and the No. 3 doubles 8-0.

MSU dominated the singles despite Tellijohn forcing three sets at the No. 1 spot.

Southwest Minnesota State will continue NSIC action next week with a pair of matches against Sioux Falls and Augustana on Saturday in St. Peter, Minn.
