SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – The Southwest Minnesota State women's tennis team suffered a 6-3 loss to Winona State this morning in NSIC action at the Huether Family Match Pointe.
 
SMSU drops to 0-5 overall, 0-4 in the NSIC, while WSU improves to 2-2 overall, 2-1 NSIC.
 
The Mustangs earned a point in doubles action as the No. 2 team of 
Ashley Hoehne and 
Britney Thompson earned an 8-4 win over Hattie Scott and Keara Thiele.
 
In singles play, Hoehne picked up a 6-1, 6-1 win at No. 4, while Thompson recorded 6-1, 6-1 victory at No. 5.
 
Madyson Brinkman suffered a tough loss at No. 6 singles, falling in three sets, including 10-8 in the third set tiebreaker.
 
Southwest Minnesota State continues play on Sunday with a 4 p.m. match versus Upper Iowa at the Huether Family Match Pointe.
