The Southwest Minnesota State University softball team will continue Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference action this weekend as it travels to Bemidji State and Minnesota Crookston. The Mustangs will take on the Beavers on Saturday starting at 1 p.m., before facing the Golden Eagles on Sunday at noon.

SCOUTING BEMIDJI STATE
The Beavers will enter Saturday's doubleheader 23-15 overall, 6-9 in the NSIC and will play its travel partner, Minnesota Crookston, Thursday before the Mustangs on Saturday. BSU is batting .296 and has 45 doubles, eight triples, 37 home runs and is slugging .457. The Beavers are led by freshman Kelsey McAllister who has a .416 batting average, 21 runs scored, 42 hits, 10 doubles, nine home runs and 18 RBIs. Sophomore Alexandra Ripka adds to the offense with a .373 batting average, 14 runs scored, 22 hits, five doubles and six RBIs. Senior Lyndsey Peterson leads the squad in home runs with 10 and RBIs with 3, while batting .336. Junior Jessica Yost leads the Beavers in the circle with a 1.76 ERA and a 14-6 record. Bemidji State head coach Rick Supinski is in his fourth season with 41-91 overall record.
BEMIDJI STATE Â SERIES HISTORY
Southwest Minnesota State and Bemidji State will meet for the 77th and 78th times on Saturday with SMSU holding a 59-17 advantage in a series that started in 1981. SMSU split with the Beavers last season, which was just the third loss since 2001. SMSU holds a 15-7 record in games away from Marshall with its last loss in Bemidji coming back in 2001 at the NSIC Tournament. See full series on page 9 of game notes.
SCOUTING MINNESOTA CROOKSTON
The Golden Eagles will enter Sunday's doubleheader 7-31 overall, 1-17 in the NSIC and will play its travel partner, Minnesota Crookston, Thursday and Sioux Falls Saturday before the Mustangs on Sunday. UMC's only conference win was a 3-2 victory in its home opener against Minot State on March 29th. Since, the Golden Eagles have lost 13 straight. UMC is batting .276 and has 35 doubles, four triples, 14 home runs and is slugging .373. The Golden Eagles are led by senior Allison Foley who is batting .336, has 23 runs scored, team high 40 hits, 11 extra base hits, four home runs and 22 RBIs. Sophomore Gabriel Antolak adds to the offense with a .330 batting average, 18 runs scored, 33 hits, six doubles and 14 RBIs. Freshman Mikayla Jones paces the defense from the circle with a 2-7 record and carries a 6.55 ERA. Minnesota Crookston head coach Don Stopa is in his second season with a 11-75 overall record.
MINNESOTA CROOKSON Â SERIES HISTORY
Southwest Minnesota State and Minnesota Crookston will meet for the 35th and 36th times on Sunday with SMSU holding a dominating 33-1 advantage in a series that started in 2000. SMSU's lone loss was a 6-4 defeat on April 25, 2010, in Marshall. Since, the Mustangs have 12 straight games. See full series on page 9 of game notes.
THE COACH
Jamie Dunn is in her third season as head coach at Southwest Minnesota State University and has compiled a 56-82-1 overall record and a 33-38-1 in the NSIC. Prior to SMSU, Dunn spent the 2013 season as assistant coach at NCAA Division II Colorado Christian University in Lakewood, Colo., and three seasons as head coach at Fruita Monument High School. SCOUTING SOUTHWEST MINNESOTA STATE
The Mustangs continued NSIC action last Wednesday suffering a sweep to Augustana University. The Vikings took the first game 7-2 before notching the sweep with a 2-1 victory in the final game. SMSU has dropped the last three games, after being on a four-game winning streak. SMSU will head to Bemidji State on Saturday before playing Minnesota Crookston on Sunday and sits eighth in the NSIC standings with a 10-10 loop record and 14-23 overall mark. Sam Flack leads the Mustangs with a .365 batting average, while tallying 38 hits, seven extra base hits and 17 RBIs. Senior outfielder
Taylor Chavez also adds to the offense with a .293 batting average with four doubles and 17 RBIs. Junior outfielder
