ST. PAUL — The Southwest Minnesota State men's and women's track & field teams both competed at the Holst Invitational hosted by Concordia-St. Paul at Sea Foam Stadium Saturday.
The SMSU women set two meet and facility records today.
Hannah Palmeter started things off setting a new meet and facility record in the women 10,000-meter run. The junior crossed the line in 38:54.50, almost two minutes ahead of the next competitor.
The women's 4x400 meter relay also set meet and facility records with a first-place finish, crossing the line in 3:55.48.
Eisha Oden placed third in the women's 400-meter dash with a time of 58.30, while
Nya Buom crossed at 1:01.18 for a 10th place finish.
Kim Shabino ran a 12.32 in the 100-meter dash for a fourth place finish and followed it with a third-place finish in the 200 with a 25.28 mark.
In the field events,
Jessie Janisch placed seventh in the javelin throw with a distance of 32.16 meters.
Rylee Armstrong jumped to a second place finish in the long jump with a 5.54-meter mark, while also taking first place in the high jump, jumping 1.60 meters.
Holly DuHoux recorded a 37.32-meter discus throw to earn eighth place.
The SMSU men starting things off in the 3000-meter steeplechase, as
Kelly Fitzsimmons finished in 10th place with a time of 10:19.95.
Chris Kveseth placed 16th in the 800-meter run with a time of 1:59.91.
The SMSU men's 4x400 meter relay team finished sixth out of 19 teams with a time of 3:28.28.
Alex Weis dominated in the field events, finishing fifth in the hammer throw with a 52.74 meter mark, third in the shot put with a 16.06 toss and seventh in the discus throw with a 49.14 throw.
SMSU will continue action on April 23 at the Northwestern College (Iowa) Open.
