EMPORIA, Kan. – The Southwest Minnesota State University women's and men's track & field teams opened its outdoor season on Saturday at the Emporia State University Relays. SMSU also has athletes competing at the Hamline University Invite on Sunday in St. Paul, Minn.
Alex Weis helped pace the men's team recording a throw of 16.2m in the shot put to finish in fifth place out of 38 competitors, while he also placed 11
th out of 30 in the hammer throw with a mark of 50.09m. Jordan Flinn also had a solid day placing 13
th in the hammer throw with a toss of 49.55m.
Will Hanson earned a seventh place finish out of 43 runners in the 110m hurdles with a time of 15.12.
On the women's side,
Rylee Armstrong had a strong day finishing fifth out of 37 in the long jump with a mark 5.67m.
Kim Shabino crossed the finish line in 15
th place in the 200m with a time of 25.73.
