MARSHALL, Minn. – The Southwest Minnesota State women's tennis team opened its 2016-17 season on Saturday dropping a 7-2 non-conference match to Morningside College (Iowa) at the Marshall High School courts.
 
Ashley Hoehne and Hannah Starke earned a point for SMSU at No. 2 doubles earning an 8-4 victory.
 
Jenna Gannott picked up SMSU's other team point recording a 7-6, 4-6, 1-0 win at No. 5 singles.
 
Southwest Minnesota State will continue its fall schedule by hosting Bethel University on Saturday, Sept. 24, at the Marshall High School courts.
