MARSHALL, Minn. – The Southwest Minnesota State University outdoor track & field teams put up several high marks during the second day of the Mustang Open held at the Marshall Regional Track & Field Complex.
On the women's side on Saturday,
Kim Shabino won the 200 meters with a school record time of 25.08 and crossed the line in third place in the 400 meters with a time of 57.53.
Nikki Atwood also had a strong race in the 200 meters finishing in sixth place at 26.57 and was ninth in 400 meters at 1:00.32.
Kayla Jansky had a strong day in the 1,500 meters earning a sixth place finish crossing the line at 5:01.74.
Angela Prokosch earned a 10
th place finish in hammer with a school record distance of 43.19m.
Sarah Mayfield earned a fourth place time in the 800 meters at 2:21.33.
For the SMSU men's team,
Alex Weis earned a second place finish in the hammer with a toss of 55.07m. He also finished third in the discus with a toss of 46.34m and placed third in the shot put with a mark of 15.45m.
Zach Jones also had a big Saturday finishing third in the 400 meters with a time of 49.47, while teammate
Quadri Busari recorded a third place time in the 100 meters crossing at 10.91.
Gabe Galamue ran a time of 22.26 to finish fourth in the 200 meters.
Chris Kveseth ran 4:16.31 to a seventh place finish in the 1,500 meters, while
Bashir Aidrus finished in ninth place at 4:17.98.
On Friday, Aidrus finished fourth in the 5,000 meters with a time of 16:06.78.
Southwest Minnesota State returns to action at the NSIC/MIAA Dual in Maryville, Missouri, on April 7-8.
