GRAND FORKS, N.D. – The Southwest Minnesota State women's tennis team closed its season this morning with a 9-0 loss to Bemidji State at Choice Fitness.

SMSU concludes the 2016-17 season with an overall record of 4-18, while finishing with a 1-10 mark in NSIC play.

Gabby Tellijohn dropped a tough 6-3, 4-6, 1-0 (10-6) match at No. 1 singles to finish a solid 4-5 record in NSIC play at No. 1 singles. Tellijohn also led the Mustangs with six victories overall during singles play.

Jenna Gannott had a close match at No. 5 singles before losing 6-4, 6-4.

Tellijohn and Hanna Starke fell in a tight 8-6 match at No. 1 doubles, with
Britney Thompson and
Paige Janka losing 8-1 at No. 2 doubles and Brittany Soupier and Gannott falling 8-2 at No. 3 doubles.

Starke finished the season with a team-leading seven victories in doubles play with five at No. 2 doubles and two at No. 1 doubles. Tellijohn and Janka each closed the season with five wins in doubles play.
