MARSHALL, Minn. – The Southwest Minnesota State University women's tennis team opens its 2017-18 season with a home match this Friday versus Missouri Western State. The match will take place at Marshall High School and will begin at 1 p.m.
SMSU head coach
Adam Henning, beginning his fourth season, has seven players on the 2017-18 roster including four returning letter winners.
Senior
Gabby Tellijohn led the team with six victories at No. 1 singles last season. She also had three victories at No. 1 doubles with sophomore
Paige Janka. Sophomore
Hannah Starke recorded four victories a season ago at No. 2 singles and recorded seven wins in doubles play. Senior
Jenna Gannott played No. 5 singles most of last season and picked up four victories while also earning four wins at No. 3 doubles.
Saturday's match is one of three SMSU has schedule at home during the fall season. The Mustangs will face both Ripon College and Wisconsin-Stout on Sept. 24 in Menomonie, Wisconsin.
Southwest Minnesota State finished 4-18 last season.
