MARSHALL, Minn. - The Southwest Minnesota State University women's tennis team opens the 2018 calendar year with a pair of Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference matches at Huether Family Match Pointe in Sioux Falls, S.D., this weekend.

SMSU will open play on Saturday with a 6:30 p.m. match versus the University of Sioux Falls (2-0). On Sunday, SMSU takes on defending NSIC champion Augustana University (2-1) starting at 8:30 a.m.

SMSU has lost six straight matches to USF and is 3-9 all-time, while the Mustangs are 5-20 all-time versus Augustana, having lost 13 straight matches. USF will face Minnesota State on Friday night prior to the match versus SMSU. Augustana will play MSU on Saturday

SMSU, 2-1 overall, last played in September during the 2017 fall season.
