MINNETONKA, Minn. – The Southwest Minnesota State women's tennis returned to Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference play on Friday night with a 6-3 loss to St. Cloud State at Lifetime Fitness.
 
SCSU, 3-12 overall, 3-4 NSIC, swept all three doubles matches, while the two teams split the six singles matches.
 
SMSU, 5-10, 1-6 NSIC, picked up victories at No. 3, 4 and 5 singles. Olivia Watzke earned a 7-6, 6-0 win at No. 3 singles, while Hannah Starke won 6-0, 5-7, 1-0 (10-2) at No. 4 singles. Paige Janka recorded SMSU's final team point with a 6-3, 0-6, 1-0 (10-7) at No. 5 singles.
 
Southwest Minnesota State returns to action on Saturday with a 7 p.m. match versus Minnesota Duluth at Lifetime Fitness in Minnetonka.
