SMSU softball prepares for big weekend with four road games

             THIS WEEKEND'S MATCH-UPS
•The Southwest Minnesota State University softball team (13-22, 8-12 NSIC) concludes the regular season this Saturday and Sunday with a pair of crucial road doubleheaders as it looks to secure a spot in the NSIC Tournament for the fourth straight season.
•SMSU will take on Bemidji State University (15-25, 4-14 NSIC) on Saturday starting at 1 p.m., before facing the University of Minnesota Crookston (6-36, 2-18 NSIC) on Sunday starting at 12 p.m.
•SMSU is coming off a home sweep versus Wayne State on Wednesday, winning 7-1 and 3-2.
•SMSU begins the weekend tied for 11th in the NSIC standings. The top 10 teams qualify for the NSIC Tournament in May.
•BSU begins the weekend in 14th place in the league standings, while UMC is in 16th place.

            SERIES HISTORY
•SMSU holds a 62-20 all-time advantage versus BSU in a series that started in 1981. 
•SMSU beat BSU twice earlier this season in West St. Paul, Minnesota, by scores of 5-3 and 4-3 in non-conference play.
•The teams played just once last season with BSU winning 4-1 at the NSIC Tournament.
•SMSU head coach Jamie Dunn is 6-4 all-time versus BSU.
•SMSU holds a 36-2 all-time series advantage versus UMC in a series that was started in 2000.
•UMC beat SMSU in 2010 and in 2016.
•SMSU won 11-0 and 7-4 last season in games played in Marshall.
•SMSU head coach Jamie Dunn is 7-1 all-time versus UMC.

Jamie Dunn is in her fifth season as head coach and has an overall record of 97-137-1, including 60-77-1 in conference play.
