WHITTIER, Calif. – The Southwest Minnesota State women's tennis concluded its spring trip on Tuesday night with a 5-4 loss at Whittier College at the Richard Ettinger Tennis Courts.

SMSU, which is now 11-9 overall, finished its trip through Colorado, Arizona and California with a 4-1 record.

On Tuesday, SMSU lost two of three doubles matches with the Mustangs' No. 3 squad of
Olivia Watzke and
Daniela Flores earning an 8-3 win.

Trailing 2-1 heading into singles play, SMSU's
Fatima Murphy won at No. 2 by scores of 7-6, 6-1, while
Hannah Starke earned a victory at No. 5 by scores of 6-4, 6-3. SMSU earned its other singles point at No. 6 as
Hanna Himmelman won 6-2, 6-2.
