ST. PETER, Minn. – The Southwest Minnesota State women's tennis team stepped out of NSIC play on Tuesday morning earning a 9-0 victory over Bethany Lutheran College at the Swanson Tennis Center on the campus of Gustavus Adolphus College.

The victory moves SMSU to 13-9 overall, while BLC drops to 4-6 on the season.

SMSU dominated doubles play as
Paige Janka and
Fatima Murphy won 8-0 at No. 1, while
Gabby Potthoff and
Olivia Watzke earned an 8-0 victory at No. 2.
Cora Delich and
Hanna Himmelman completed the doubles sweep with an 8-1 win at No. 3.

SMSU swept through in straight sets in all six singles matches. Delich earned a 6-1, 6-2 win at No. 1, Watzke won 6-0, 6-1 at No. 2, while Himmelman earned a 6-2, 6-2 victory at No. 4.
Daniela Flores at No. 3 and Janka at No. 5, both won by scores of 6-0, 6-0. Potthoff earned a 6-1, 6-0 win at No. 6.

SMSU will now play Gustavus later on Tuesday in an exhibition match beginning at 3 p.m. The Mustangs will conclude the regular season this weekend with matches in Sioux Falls versus the University of Sioux Falls and Augustana. SMSU is trying to secure a top eight spot in the NSIC standings to qualify for the NSIC Tournament.
