COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – The Southwest Minnesota State women's tennis team picked up its second straight victory during its spring trip earning a 5-4 win at Colorado College on Friday at the Burghart Tennis Courts.

SMSU improves to 9-8 on the season with the win. It's the first time SMSU has recorded nine wins in a season since 2010.

SMSU won all three doubles matches to build a 3-0 lead.
Paige Janka and
Fatima Murphy won 8-6 at No. 1,
Cora Delich and
Hannah Starke earned an 8-5 win at No. 2, while
Daniela Flores and
Olivia Watzke picked up an 8-2 win at No. 3.

SMSU dropped a pair of close matches at No. 1 and No. 2 singles. Delich lost 6-4, 2-6, 1-0 (10-5) at No. 1, while Watzke suffered a 3-6, 6-4, 1-0 (10-6).
Flores picked up a big straight set, 6-0, 6-0 victory at No. 3, before
Hanna Himmelman clinched the Mustangs victory with a 6-3, 6-3 win at No. 5.

Southwest Minnesota State returns to the court on Saturday in Surprise, Ariz., facing Ottawa University (Ariz.) at 2 p.m. CST.
