MARSHALL, Minn. – Southwest Minnesota State's
Jacqueline Gossen shot a 16-over 159 (80-79) to earn medalist honors at the 36-hole Mustang/Maverick Dual held Sunday and Monday. The first 18 holes were held at the par-72 Marshall Golf Club, while today's final round was at the par-71 Mankato Golf Club.
Minnesota State earned the dual match win holding on for an eight-shot 659-667 victory.
Gossen, who entered the final round in fourth place, shot today's best round with an 8-over 79 to win by five strokes over Natalie Nelson from Minnesota State.
Ashley Trongard tied for fifth overall for the Mustangs shooting a 17-over 88 today to finish at 24-over 167 (79-88).
Anneke Weg carded a 12-over 83 on Monday for a 26-over 169 (86-83) to placed tied for eighth.
Sally Gallagher shot a 21-over 92 on Monday and finished 11
th overall with a 30-over 173 (81-92), while
Lauryn Driscoll finished 15
th at 37-over 180 (85-95).
Four Mustangs played as individuals during the event.
Sydney Noel shot a 13-over 84 on Monday to finish 12
th overall at 31-over 174 (90-84).
Natalie Bohnert also shot a 13-over 84 today and closed shooting a 33-over 176 (92-84) to finish 13
th.
Courtni Frank recorded a 22-over 93 on Monday and was 14
th overall with a 34-over 177 (83-93), with
Danielle Podoll shooting an 18-over 89 on Monday for a two-round score of 38-over 181 (92-89).
Southwest Minnesota State will now head south for the Central Region Preview this upcoming Sunday and Monday at Hot Springs Country Club in Hot Springs, Ark.
