LITCHFIELD PARK, Ariz. – The Southwest Minnesota State women's golf team is in ninth place following round one of the 10-team SMSU Challenge played at the par-70 Wigwam Resort Blue Course on Thursday afternoon.
SMSU carded a score of 65-over-par 345 and trails eighth place Bemidji State by four strokes.
Colorado Mesa is the leader after round one with a score of 27-over 307. Payton Panzero from Colorado Mesa is the individual leader following 18 holes with a 1-over 71.
Carly Hamman and
Meghan Pundsack both shot rounds of 12-over 82 and are tied for 30
th place in the 62-player field. Pundsack finished the round with one birdie and eight pars, while Hamman closed with 10 pars.
Berkley Steffen is in 52
nd place following a 20-over 90 with six pars, with
Allie Nedved in 53
rd place after a 21-over 91 recording five pars.
Natalie Appel had four pars on her way to a 25-over 95 and is in 57
th place, while
Roni Hook, playing as an individual, is in 58
th place following a 26-over 96 recording one birdie and four pars.
The final round begins on Friday with tee times starting at 11:16 a.m. CDT.
