MARSHALL, Minn. – The Southwest Minnesota State University women's golf team recorded a score of 26-over-par 314 on Saturday and is currently tied for third place at the 10-team 23
rd annual EverSpring Inn & Suites Mustang Invite played at the par-72 Marshall Golf Club.
Augustana is the first round leader with an 11-over 299 with Gustavus in second place at 21-over 309. SMSU is tied with Wayne State for third place, while Concordia-St. Paul is in fifth place just two shots back at 28-over 316. Molly Stevens from Augustana is the individual leader following a Mustang Invite record round of 3-under 69.
Sunday's final round begins with a shotgun start at 9:30 a.m.
The Mustangs'
Sally Gallagher is currently tied for fourth overall in the 64-play field following a career-low 3-over 75. Gallagher shot an even par 36 on the front and closed the round with a pair of birdies and 12 pars.
Jacqueline Gossen is tied for 11
th overall after carding a career-best 6-over 78 which included one birdie and 11 pars, while shooting an even par 36 on the front.
Anneke Weg recorded 11 pars on the day and finished shooting an 8-over 80 to sit in a tie for 20
th overall. Teammate
Lauryn Driscoll had one birdie and nine pars in the round and closed shooting a 9-over 81 and is tied for 24
th.
Ashley Trongard was the fifth member of the Mustang team today and shot a 15-over 87 with seven pars to sit in a tie for 44
th.
Courtni Frank, playing in her first tournament of the season, was one of four Mustangs playing as individuals on Saturday. Frank is tied for 33
rd following a round of 12-over 84 which included eight pars.
Sydney Noel,
Danielle Podoll and
Natalie Bohnert all finished with rounds of 17-over 89. Bohnert registered eight pars, Podoll had six pars, while Noel racked up five pars.
