MANKATO, Minn. – The Southwest Minnesota State women's and men's indoor track & field teams completed day one of the Mark Schuck Open & Multi on Friday with several strong finishes, including two school records. The two-day meet is being held inside Myers Field House on the campus of Minnesota State University.
Shealyn Tom eared a fourth place mark out of more than 20 competitors in the women's pole vault with a school record height of 3.38m.
Sierra Clifford ran 41.56 in the women's 300 meters to finish fifth overall with more than 20 competing.
Kaaryna Smidel finished with a school record time of 1:13.17 in the 400 meter hurdles to earn a third place finish.
Hannah Koepfinger is competing in the pentathlon and is currently in eighth place following five events. She finished second in the 800 meters with a time of 2:32.42.
For the SMSU men's team,
Tyler Smith crossed the line at 35.99 in the 300 meters to finish seventh out of 26 runners.
Max Schmitt competed in the 800 meters and finished second at 1:10.80.
The second day of the meet begins at 9 a.m. on Saturday.
