MANKATO, Minn. – The Southwest Minnesota State women's and men's indoor track & field teams completed the two-day Mark Schuck Open & inside Myers Field House on the campus of Minnesota State University on Sunday.
In Friday's action, SMSU set a pair of school records with
Shealyn Tom setting a school mark in the women's pole vault at 3.38m, while
Kaaryna Smidel finished with a time of 1:13.17 in the 400 meter hurdles to set a school record.
On Saturday,
Sierra Clifford earned a second place finish in the women's 400m with a time of 59.19, while teammate
Kyra Kusnierek picked up a third place finish in the 800m at 2:26.55.
Emily Van Roekel ran 1:02.77 in the 400m to finish eighth overall.
Nadia Sanford placed eighth, while
Emily Lorentz finished ninth in the shot put at 12.38m and 12.35m respectively.
SMSU's 4x400 relay team of Clifford, Kusnierek, Van Roekel and
Hannah Koepfinger had a strong race finishing second at 4:04.50.
For the men's squad,
Tyler Smith ran 51.71 in the 400m to finish third overall, while
McKallen Smith cleared 1.85m in the high jump to earn eighth place.
Junior Kandolo finished 6.31m in the long jump to also place eighth.
Hunter Smith finished fifth in the pole vault with a mark of 4.35m.
SMSU continues action next Saturday, Feb. 4, at the Dakota Wesleyan Alumni Invite.
