WARRENSBURG, Mo. – The Southwest Minnesota State women's golf team opened play at the Midwest Classic on Monday shooting a round of 72-over 352 and is currently in 18
th place at the 20-team event played at the par-70 Mules National Golf Club hosted by Central Missouri University.
Central Missouri is the leader after round one with a 13-over 293 and holds a two-shot lead over Augustana. Molly Stevens from Augustana shot a 4-under 66 to lead the 112-player field.
Jacqueline Gossen recorded one birdie and six pars for a score of 15-over 85 and is tied for 70
th overall to lead SMSU's team scoring.
Danielle Podoll is tied for 78
th following a 16-over 86 with one birdie and six pars.
Ashley Trongard shot an 18-over 88, recording six pars to sit in a tie for 89
th, while
Berkley Steffen is tied for 100
th at 23-over 93.
Lauryn Driscoll rounded out SMSU's team play and is tied for 103
rd at 26-over 96.
Three Mustangs are competing as individuals with
Isabella Jacobs leading the way tied for 68
th after shooting a 14-over 84 with seven pars.
Samantha Doherty finished at 15-over 85 with seven pars and is tied for 70
th, while
Meghan Pundsack carded a 23-over 93 and is tied for 100
th.
The final round begins on Tuesday at 8:30 a.m.
