MARSHALL, Minn. – The Southwest Minnesota State University women's tennis team opens the 2023 spring season on Wednesday afternoon with a non-conference match at NCAA Division I Creighton University.
The match begins at 12:30 p.m. and will be held at the Hanscome Tennis Center in Omaha, Neb. Creighton is 4-0 on the season and is coming off a 6-1 victory over Bradley on Saturday.
Wednesday's match is the first of two SMSU will be playing versus Division I opponents. SMSU will play at the University of North Dakota on Feb. 18.

Jon Parker, is coming off one of its most successful seasons in nearly 15 years last spring, setting a program single-season win record at the Division II level with 17 victories. The Mustangs finished 17-11 overall and advanced to the semifinals of the NSIC Tournament for the second straight season.
The Mustangs have five returning letter winners from last spring's team and have added three first-year players. The 2023 spring roster has eight players with one senior, four sophomores and three freshmen.
SMSU and Creighton will be meeting for the second time in program history with SMSU earning a 7-2 win during the 1991 season.
