FALCON HEIGHTS, Minn. – The Southwest Minnesota State University cross country teams competed at the 37
th annual Roy Griak Invitational held at the Les Bolstad Cross Country Course on Friday.
The SMSU women finished in 30
th place in the Maroon 6K with a score of 786, while the SMSU men closed with 989 points to finish 31
st in the Maroon 8K.
Madison Marco was the top finisher for the Mustang women for the third time in three races this fall. She ran the 6,000-meter course in a time of 25:06 to place 129
th out of a field of nearly 400 runners.
Macie Langstraat was right behind Marco and finished 146
th at 25:20.
Carissa Andres was 250
th at 26:56,
Catherine Ihrke finished 263
rd at 27:13, while
Kyra Kusnierek crossed the line at 27:31 to finish 280
th and round out SMSU's scoring.
Natalie Jorschumb ran 27:39 to finish 287
th,
Josephine Lentz was 316
th at 28:28,
Savanna Busch placed 347
th at 29:34, while
Brycelyn Hanson finished 356
th at 30:07.
For the SMSU men,
Seth Torgerson was the team's top finisher for the third straight race as he closed the 8,000-meter course with a time of 29:08 to place 232
nd.
Ivan Barrera ran 30:46 to finish 326
th,
Rally Palomo finished 392
nd at 32:20,
Gus Foster placed 397
th at 32:28, and
Daniel Olson closed the team scoring in 441
st place at 34:54.
Ian Kalin finished 453
rd place with a time of 37:12.
SMSU returns to action on Oct. 7 competing at the Briar Cliff University Invite in Sioux City, Iowa.
