MANKATO, Minn. – The Southwest Minnesota State University women's and men's track & field teams concluded day one of the NSIC Indoor Championships on Friday inside Myers Field House on the campus of Minnesota State University.
For the men's team,
Carl Swedzinski led the way with a fifth-place in the weight throw with a toss of 17.40m to earn SMSU four points.
Tyler Nebelung placed ninth overall with a mark of 16.57m.
Hunter Smith placed seventh in the pole vault with a season-best 4.47m to earn 1.5 team points. The distance is also the third-highest in team history.
Jack Clark and
Chaden Carroll both competed in the heptathlon with four rounds completed on Friday. Clark highest finish on the day was third in the high jump at 1.83m.
Greg Schafer competed in the 60-meters and placed 16
th with a time of 7.01, while
Max Schmitt ran 8.69 in the 60-meter hurdles to finish 18
th overall.
On the women's side,
Sierra Clifford qualified for Saturday's final in the 600-meters with a fourth-place qualifying time of 1:37.64.
Kyra Kusnierek ran 1:42.43 to finish 15
th in the prelims, while
Brooke Wetterstrom was 16
th at 1:42.49.
Macie Langstraat set a school record in the 1,000-meters with a time of 3:03.79 to finish 10
th overall.
Emily Lorentz finished 11
th overall in the weight throw at 16.14m, while
Nadia Sanford placed 13
th at 15.66m.
Shealyn Tom competed in the pole vault and cleared 3.38m to finish 11
th overall.
The final day of the NSIC Championships begin on Saturday at 9 a.m.
