MANKATO, Minn. – The Southwest Minnesota State University women's and men's indoor track & field teams placed second and third respectively at the Maverick Open on Friday.
Madison Marco placed second while breaking the school record in the 1,000-meter with a time of 3:02.70.
Kyra Kusnierek ran a 1:40.28 to snag a first-place finish in the women's 600-meter, while teammate Brooke Wetterstrom finished in third with a time of 1:43.14.
Macie Langstraat placed third in the 800-meter running a time of 2:24.26.
In women's shot put, Nadia Sanford recorded a toss of 13.13m for a third-place finish.
On the men's side, Tyler Smith placed first in the 200-meter with a time of 22.28.
In the men's triple jump, Peda Zeba recorded a first-place finish with a mark of 13.36m, while teammate Colton Johnson finished second with a distance of 13.00m.
Jacob Kunkel secured a second-place finish in the high jump reaching a height of 1.93m.
SMSU will be back in action Friday, Feb. 28 for the NSIC Indoor Championships, which are held inside Myers Field House in Mankato, Minn.
