MARSHALL, Minn. – The Southwest Minnesota State University women's golf team returns to action next week to open the 2024 spring season hosting three tournaments during its spring trip to Arizona.
SMSU will first compete serving as the host school for the 12-team, 36-hole SMSU Spring Invite on March 4-5 at the Wigwam Resort Red Course in Litchfield Park. Schools competing include Academy of the Art University (Calif.), Alexandria Tech, Bemidji State, Chadron State (Neb.), Colorado Mesa, UMary, Missouri Western State, Montana State-Billings, Rockhurst (Mo.), South Dakota School of Mines and Western New Mexico. Tee times both days begin at 11 a.m. CST.
On March 7-8, SMSU will host the 12-team, 36-hole, SMSU Challenge at Wigwam Resort Blue Course in Litchfield Park with tee times starting at 9:40 a.m. CST on both days. Schools joining SMSU include Bemidji State, Chadron State (Neb.), Colorado Mesa, Concordia-St. Paul, UMary, MSU-Denver, Minnesota Crookston, Minnesota State, Montana State-Billings, Northwest Nazarene (Idaho) and South Dakota School of Mines.
SMSU will close out its trip on March 11-12 hosting the 36-hole SMSU Spring Classic at the Wigwam Resort Blue Course. Tee times are scheduled to begin both days at 12:16 p.m. CDT. A total of 12 teams will compete, including Black Hills State, Bucknell, MSU-Denver, Minnesota Crookston, MSU Moorhead, Minot State, Montana State-Billings, Northwest Missouri State, Northwest Nazarene (Idaho), Saint Leo (Fla.) and Westminster (Utah).
SMSU last competed at the Midwest Classic on Oct. 16-17 2023, in Warrensburg, Mo.

Jacqueline Gossen leads SMSU with a 79.7 stroke average during 10 rounds in the fall season. Junior
Danielle Podoll is second with an 83.1 average in eight rounds, while senior
Ashley Trongard is third with an 85.1 average in 10 rounds.
