ST. PETER, Minn. – The Southwest Minnesota State track & field teams competed at the Gustie Twilight on Wednesday evening earning numerous first-place finishes despite battling windy conditions.
On the women's side,
Taytum Klink earned a first place time in the 200 meters crossing the line at 25.29, while also finishing second in the 100 meters at 12.75. She also finished second in the long jump at 5.21m.
Catherine Ihrke ran 2:31.45 to capture first place in the 800 meters with teammate
Hannah Koepfinger also earning first place in the 400-meter hurdles with a time of 1:08.79.
Christine Sleeter won the high jump clearing 1.65m with
Rainbow Stands finished second at 1.55m.
Shealyn Tom won the pole vault at 3.45m.
Sierra Clifford was second in the 200 meters at 25.48 and was third in the 100 meters with a time of 12.87.
For the Mustang men,
Tyler Smith reached the finish line first in the 100 meters at 11.15 with
Greg Schafer in second at 11.21 and
Max Schmitt placing third at 11.38. Smith also placed second in the 200 meters with a time of 21.83.
Ivan Barrera won the 800 meters with a time of 2:04.55, while
Hunter Smith also earned first place in the pole vault at 4.41m.
Tyler Wilson recorded a toss of 44.48m in the discus to earn first place, while
Carl Swedzinski won the hammer with a throw of 51.97m.
SMSU competes this weekend with individuals at both the St. John's Invite and Northwestern College (Iowa) Invite.
