MARSHALL, Minn. – The Southwest Minnesota State women's and men's track teams had a handful of individuals compete in two different meets on Friday and Saturday.
 
On Friday and Saturday, Jack Clark competed at the Northwestern College Red Raider Open in Orange City, Iowa, and set a school record in the decathlon with 5,009 points to place second overall. He won the 400 meters with a time of 56.05 and won the 1500 meters with a time of 5:34.46.
 
On the women's side, Hannah Koepfinger took home first place in the heptathlon recording a total score of 3,748. She earned first in the 100-meter hurdles (16.22) and the javelin (29.68m).
 
Kyra Kusnierek also competed in the meet and ran 12:55.63 in the 3,000-meter steeplechase to place fourth.
 
At the CSB/SJU Invite in Collegeville, Minn., on Saturday, Emily Lorentz finished second overall in the shot put with a throw of 11.85m, while finishing 10^th in the hammer throw at 36.44m and 20^th in the discus.
 
Malayna Kiel earned an eight-place toss of 27.48 in the javelin and was 15^th in the hammer throw with a mark of 34.73m.
 
Carl Swedzinski earned a second place finish in the hammer throw with a distance of 52.86m with Tyler Wilson placing seventh at 47.07m.
 
Swedzinski finished fifth in the shot put at 14.09m with Wilson in 12^th place at 12.91m.
 
Wilson had a strong day in the discus placing third at 44.12m while Swedzinski was seventh at 39.35m.
 
SMSU returns to action at the Dakota State Twilight in Madison, S.D., on Tuesday.
