COLLEGEVILLE, Minn. – The Southwest Minnesota State women's and men's track & field teams opened its outdoor season on Saturday earning a total of seven first-place finishes at the CSB/SJU Optimistic Meet at Clemons Stadium.
Colton Johnson earned a pair of first-place finishes for the SMSU men's team winning the long jump at 7.21m and the triple jump at 14.47m.
Jacob Kunkel cleared 1.95m in the high jump to earn first place.
Cody Evers earned second in the 110-meter hurdles with a tie of 15.6, while
BT Teboh also was second in the 200 meters at 22.55.
Dylan Schwarz ran 50.55 to pick-up a second-place finish in the 400 meters with
Roel Palomo earning a personal best time of 1:57.17 in the 800 meters to place second.
Deekon Anvid recorded a toss of 48.20m in the discus to finish in second place and was also sixth in the hammer at 49.71m.
Chaden Carroll cleared 4.25m in the pole vault to finish second.
Peda Zeba finished in second place behind Johnson in the triple jump with a mark of 14.08m.
Josh Coulby placed fourth in the shot put with a toss of 14.44m.
Ella Doble was also a double winner for the women's team taking home first in the 200 meters at 26.29 and 400 meters at 59.05.
Allison Watts took home first place in the 100-meter hurdles with a time of 15.89, while
Madison Marco crossed the line first in the 3,000-meter steeplechase with a time of 11:35.18.
Peyton Owens had a strong second-place in the triple jump at 10.57m.
Victoria Robillard finished third in the pole vault clearing 3.25m.
SMSU resumes the season on Friday, April 3, competing at the Minnesota State Stomper Open in Mankato.
