Mustang men's track & field has four CSC Academic All-District honorees

MARSHALL, Minn. – Four members of the Southwest Minnesota State University men's track & field team were named to the 2026 College Sports Communicators (CSC) Academic All-District team announced on Tuesday.
 
Earning spots on the all-district team include senior Deekon Anvid and sophomores Cody Evers, Colton Johnson and Jacob Kunkel
 
The Academic All-District® track & field/cross country teams, selected by College Sports Communicators, recognize the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances in the athletic realm and in the classroom. The CSC Academic All-America® program separately recognizes basketball honorees in four divisions — NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III and NAIA.
 
To be eligible for CSC Academic All-District honors, nominees must have a 3.50 cumulative GPA, complete one full calendar year at their current institution and be at least a sophomore both academically and athletically. They must also have a Top 50 regional ranking performance in a single event during the track & field season, or a Top 50 performance at the 2025 NCAA region cross country meet.
 
A native of Culver, Minn., Anvid earns CSC Academic All-District accolades for the third time in his career. A sports management major, Anvid closed his five-year career as an eight-time Academic All-NSIC honoree. He had the 20th best toss in the region in the discus during the outdoor season with a mark of 50.04m, while registering the 31st best mark in the region in the hammer throw with a toss of 53.79m.
 
Evers, a social work major from Proctor, Minn., is a two-year member of the track & field team and earned Academic All-NSIC honors this winter and spring. He finished 24th in the region following the outdoor season in the 110-meter hurdles with a time of 14.69.
 
Johnson is a native of Grand Rapids, Minn., and is a two-year member of the track & field team. An Academic All-NSIC honoree this winter and spring, Johnson had the 23rd best mark in the long jump during the outdoor season as 7.21m and 26th in the triple jump at 14.47m. He also had Top 30 marks in both events during the indoor season.
 
Kunkel earned Academic All-NSIC accolades this winter and spring, while majoring in exercise science. A native of Breckenridge, Minn., he ranked 22nd in the region in the high jump 2.02 during the indoor season and was 11th in the event during the outdoor season with a height of 2.05m.
 
The Division II and III CSC Academic All-America® programs are partially financially supported by the NCAA Division II and III national governance structures to assist CSC with handling the awards fulfillment aspects for the 2025-26 Divisions II and III Academic All-America® programs.
