MARSHALL, Minn. – The Southwest Minnesota State women's golf team shot a final round 45-over-par 333 on Sunday to combine for a two-round total of 87-over 663 to finish in eighth place at the 11-team EverSpring Inn & Suites Mustang Invite hosted by SMSU and played at the par-72 Marshall Golf Club.
Augustana won the tournament title for the fifth straight year shooting a 16-over 592, finishing five strokes ahead of Northwest Missouri State (597).
Masyn Mock from Augustana earned medalist honors in the 78-player field tying a Mustang Invite record at 2-under 142. She carded a 1-over 73 on Saturday, before shooting a 3-under 69 in today's final round. Molly Stevens from Augustana also shot 142 in 2021.
Meghan Pundsack, playing as an individual for SMSU this weekend, led all Mustang players on the weekend placing 24
th with a 13-over 157. After shooting a career-low 3-over 75 on Saturday, Pundsack finished at 10-over 82 on Sunday with one birdie and nine pars.
Danielle Podoll was the lowest finisher amongst SMSU's team play shooting a 16-over 160 to finish tied for 32
nd. She had one birdie and 10 pars on Sunday to shoot 10-over 82.
Berkley Steffen tied for 41
st at 18-over 162. She carded an 8-over 80 in the final round with two birdies and eight pars.
Mallory Uselman also shot an 8-over 80 on Sunday with one birdie and nine pars to finish tied for 43
rd at 19-over 163.
Ellie Krueger tied for 66
th at 34-over with six pars on Sunday in route to a 19-over 91, while
Isabella Jacobs shot a 19-over 91 with four pars in the final round and finished at 35-over 179 to finish 68
th.
Three other Mustangs all played as individuals with
Natalie Appel shooting a 10-over 82 with eight pars on Sunday and finished 56
th at 26-over 170.
Allie Nedved shot a 32-over 176 to tie for 64
th following Sunday's round of 17-over 89, while
Roni Hook closed at 48-over to finish 75
th.
SMSU will have over two weeks off before closing the fall season on Oct. 14-15 at the Midwest Classic in Maryville, Mo., at Mozingo Lakes Golf Course.
