LARCHWOOD, IOWA – The Southwest Minnesota State women's golf team is in 10
th place after round one of the 12-team University of Sioux Falls Invitational played at the Grand Falls Golf Resort on Monday.
SMSU shot an opening round score of 53-over-par 341 and trails ninth place Jamestown by one stroke. Winona State leads the tournament with a score of 19-over 307.
Carly Hamman recorded three birdies and six pars during Monday's play to shoot SMSU's low score of the day at 11-over 83 and is in 34
th place in the 71-player field.
Allie Nedved and
Isabella Jacobs both carded rounds of 12-over 84 to sit in a tie for 40
th, with both finishing with seven pars on the day.
Meghan Pundsack had one birdies and five pars on her way to shooting an 18-over 90, while
Berkley Steffen shot a 20-over 92 with five pars.
Roni Hook and
Natalie Appel played as individuals with Hook carding a 22-over 94, while Appel finished at 29-over 101.
Piper Hill from Concordia-St. Paul and Lindsey Lund from Winona State are tied atop the leaderboard with an even-par 72.
The final round will begin on Tuesday with a shotgun start at 11 a.m.
