INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – The Southwest Minnesota State wrestling team concluded the 2025 calendar year Sunday in the Midwest Classic finishing 33
rd out of 46 teams.
Seven of the 10 Mustang wrestlers finished with a win and scoring points for the team. The Mustangs finished with 20.5 points and nine wins, both of which are improvements from last season.
"This weekend was a great learning experience for the team. Filled with youth and new faces, this tournament was a test to see how we stack up across the country," said fifth year head coach
Chayse Jackson. "Our wins were spread across multiple weights, with numerous great showings against top ranked teams and opponents. I look forward taking the time to work on what we saw throughout the tournament and returning home second semester for numerous matches in the PE! #LetsRide"
The Mustangs return to the PE Gym on Jan. 9, hosting the Iron Mike Duals beginning at 11 a.m. against Sioux Falls, Central Missouri, Quincy (Ill.), and Fort Hays State. More information can be found at smsumustangs.com/sports/wrestling.
