NSIC announces preseason indoor track & field coaches' poll

BURNSVILLE, Minn. -- The Southwest Minnesota State University men's indoor track & field team was selected to place 10th in the annual NSIC preseason coaches' poll released on Thursday.

SMSU junior Peda Zeba (jumps) and sophomore Dylan Schwarz (sprints) were both named an 'Athlete to Watch' this season.

"Peda enters his junior season looking to take the next step," said SMSU head coach, Kirk Nauman, now in his seventh season. "In his first two indoor seasons at the NSIC Championships, Peda placed eighth and seventh in the triple jump. Another goal for Peda is to claim the SMSU indoor triple jump record."

"Dylan put together a strong freshman campaign while adjusting to the challenge that is the NSIC," Nauman said. "He put together several nice performances as the season proceeded and is looking forward to another season of progress."

SMSU begins the season on Friday at the Minnesota State Chuck Petersen Open in Mankato.

The NSIC Indoor Championships will be held Feb. 27-28, 2026, in Mankato.
