LITCHFIELD PARK, Ariz. – The Southwest Minnesota State women's golf team closed its opening tournament of the spring season on Tuesday shooting a 40-over-par 328 in the second round of the 12-team SMSU Spring Invitational held at Wigwam Resort Red Course.
SMSU, which shot 35-over-323 on Monday, finished in eighth place in the 36-hole tournament with a score of 75-over-651.
Grand Valley State (Mich.) won the team title with a 1-over-577. Olivia Stoll from GVSU earned medalist honors firing a score of 3-under 141.
Danielle Podoll finished tied for 26
th overall carding a 14-over 158, following a second round score of 7-over 79, making four birdies and four pars on the day.
Isabella Jacobs tied for 43
rd overall at 20-over 164 following a round of 11-over 83 on Tuesday with 10 pars.
Meghan Pundsack shot an 8-over 80 on Tuesday with one birdie and 10 pars to finish tied for 45
th at 21-over 165.
Berkley Steffen also finished 45
th at 21-over 165 after carding a 15-over 87 in the second round with one birdie and seven pars.
Mallory Uselman rounded out SMSU's team play finishing 64
th at 31-over 175 after shooting 14-over 86 on Tuesday with one birdie and five pars.
SMSU had four compete as individuals with
Ellie Krueger placing 54
th at 24-over 168. She shot an 8-over 80 on Tuesday with 12 pars.
Natalie Appel finished 56
th at 25-over 169,
Allie Nedved was 66
th at 32-over 176 with
Roni Hook closing at 46-over 190 to finish 73
rd.
SMSU continues its spring break trip hosting the 12-team SMSU Challenge on Thursday and Friday at Wigwam Resort Blue Course.
