MARSHALL, Minn. – Officials from Southwest Minnesota State University, the University of Minnesota Crookston, and Bemidji State University announced on Wednesday the SMSU/UMC and SMSU/BSU Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference opening weekend doubleheaders will now be played Friday and Saturday at either the Schwan REC or Mustang Field in Marshall.
The three teams were initially scheduled to meet at UMC/BSU campus sites on Saturday and Sunday, but both series were moved due to expected poor weather conditions in Crookston and Bemidji.
The Mustangs will play doubleheaders both days, first facing the Golden Eagles on Friday with first pitch set for 1 p.m., while Saturday's doubleheader versus the Beavers will begin at noon.
SMSU last played on Wednesday, March 12, closing its spring trip going 15-1 in Florida, and sits at 18-8 overall heading into its conference opener.
