LOOKING AHEAD
• The Southwest Minnesota State University softball team (28-20, 10-12 NSIC) is set for its final home weekend of the 2025 season with doubleheaders against Winona State University (34-11, 15-5 NSIC) and Concordia-St. Paul (21-24, 13-7 NSIC) at Mustang Field.
• The Mustangs are set to square off with the Warriors on Friday, with the first pitch set for 1 p.m.
• SMSU and CSP will play on Saturday starting at noon.

MILLER NAMED NSIC PITCHER OF THE WEEK
•
Karlie Miller was named the NSIC Pitcher of the Week on March 10 following a stellar week in Florida. It is the first time Miller has earned the honor in her career.
• Miller, a senior right-hander from Prior Lake, Minn., shined over the week going 4-0 with a 0.75 ERA in five appearances recording 32 strikeouts in 28 innings and allowing just three earned runs at THE Spring Games.
• In her first appearance of the trip on March 3, Miller tossed a four-hit complete game shutout against Pittsburgh Johnstown to help SMSU win its first game of the trip.
• She followed that up with a shutout the next day, racking up a career-high 12 strikeouts in the 7-0 win over Staten Island (N.Y.).
• Miller picked up another win on March 5, striking out five batters in 5 2/3 innings against West Virginia Wesleyan before ending the week with a six-strikeout performance in six innings versus Queens (N.Y.).
HEAD COACH BAILEY BOUMAN
•
Bailey Bouman is in her seventh season as head coach at SMSU with an overall record of 140-168, including 74-92 in NSIC play.
• The 11th head coach in program history, Bouman was named to the position on Aug. 8, 2018.
• SMSU finished with a 19-32 overall mark in 2024, missing the NSIC tournament by one game.
Abby Boxrud and
Paris Van Dyke became the first Mustangs to earn All-NSIC Defensive honors in the Bouman era.
• The Mustangs finished the 2023 season 17-32 and missed the NSIC Tournament for the first time in three seasons.
• SMSU finished 21-31 in 2022 and won its second NSIC Tournament game in consecutive seasons.
• The Mustangs finished 27-20 in 2021, their best season since 2011, while winning their first NSIC tournament game since Bouman's first season in 2019.
• SMSU finished 19-26 during her first season in 2019 and qualified for the NSIC Tournament.
• Bouman was an assistant coach with the SMSU women's basketball program from 2015-17 and was also an assistant women's basketball coach at Dordt College (Iowa) before returning to SMSU.
• Bouman is a 2014 graduate of the University of Sioux Falls where she played both basketball and softball for the Cougars.
LAST TIME OUT
• SMSU capped off a six-win week by sweeping Northern State at Mustang Field on Sunday.
• The Mustangs earned a 3-2 come-from-behind win in game one before securing the sweep with an 11-5 victory in game two.

Karlie Miller (12-9) earned the win in game one, allowing a pair of earned runs while recording five strikeouts in a complete game.
• SMSU totaled eight hits in the opener, with
Grace Anderson (2 for 2) and
Karlie Miller (3 for 3) each batting 1.000 at the plate.
• The Mustangs jumped out to a 5-0 lead after two innings and never looked back in cruising to the 11-5 win in game two.

Morgyn Otte (10-8) grabbed the win after limiting the Wolves to two runs and three hits while grabbing a pair of strikeouts in four innings.
Jordyn Marsh grabbed her ninth save of the year after holding off NSU in the final three innings.
• The Mustangs recorded 10 hits in game two as
Abby Russell went 2 for 2 with a pair of walks and a career-high four RBI. Kramolisch and Boxrud each added a pair of hits and combined for five runs.
MUSTANG EXTRA BASES

Riley Kramolisch leads SMSU batting .361 with 20 RBI and 36 runs scored while ranking first on the team with 61 hits.

Abby Russell is hitting .344 with 27 RBI and six doubles while leading SMSU with 68 total bases.

Abby Boxrud is batting .321 and leads the team with 37 runs scored while batting in 12 runs. Boxrud ranks second in the nation and leads the NSIC in sacrifice bunts per game (0.48).

Emma Humpal is hitting .313 with six extra-base hits and 29 RBI while drawing 11 nine walks. Humpal is third in the nation and first in the NSIC in sacrifice flies with six.

Lexi Ingalls leads the Mustangs with 12 extra-base hits. She has recorded 18 RBI and scored 18 runs.
• SMSU is averaging 4.8 runs per game and batting .294

Karlie Miller (12-9) leads the team with 94 strikeouts in 137 1/3 innings pitched. Miller has a 2.70 ERA with 16 complete games and three shutouts.

Jordyn Marsh (6-3) has tallied 84 strikeouts in 77 1/3 innings. She is first in the nation and NSIC with nine saves.
• SMSU has a team ERA of 2.82 in 315 innings with 247 strikeouts. Opponents are averaging 3.6 runs per game and batting .260

Karlie Miller ranks third in team history in starts (92) and complete games (66), fourth in innings pitched (559) and strikeouts (374), seventh in shutouts (8), and eighth in wins (38).

Abby Russell is second all-time in assists (443), fifth in hits (209), triples (10), and doubles (39), while ranking sixth in stolen base pct. (.939), seventh in total bases (292), eighth in stolen bases (31), 10th in runs scored (112), and 13th in RBI (90).

Paris Van Dyke is currently second all-time in fielding pct. (.992) and ranks 13th in putouts (584).
• Freshman
Jordyn Marsh is moving through the ranks quickly, already sitting second all-time in saves (9) and combined shutouts (4) while ranking fifth in games finished (28).

• WSU holds an 87-45 advantage in the all-time series which began during the 1973 season.
• The Warriors are currently on a 35-game win streak in the series, dating back to 2009.
• The last meeting in Marshall happened on April 11, 2021, resulting in a Winona State sweep.
• SMSU is 27-28 all-time in games played in Marshall.
SCOUTING CONCORDIA-ST. PAUL
• SMSU holds a 41-33 advantage in the all-time series which began during the 1977 season.

MUSTANGS EARN POSTSEASON HONORS IN 2024
• SMSU had two players receive accolades following the 2024 season.
• Right fielder,
Abby Boxrud, and first baseman,
Paris Van Dyke, were both selected to the All-NSIC Defensive team.
• Boxrud started every game in right field last season and led both SMSU and the NSIC with a 1.000 field pct. on 68 putouts.
• Van Dyke made 43 starts at first base finishing second in the league in fielding pct. (.997), fourth in fielding double plays (13), and ninth in putouts (305).

• SMSU was chosen 10th in the NSIC Preseason Coaches' Poll as voted on by the league's 15 head coaches.
