• The Southwest Minnesota State University softball team (29-23, 11-15 NSIC) is set for its final doubleheader of the 2025 season against Minnesota State (35-15, 19-5 NSIC) on the road in Mankato, Minn.
• The Mustangs are set to square off with the Mavericks on Sunday, with the first pitch set for 12 p.m.

MILLER NAMED NSIC PITCHER OF THE WEEK
•
Karlie Miller was named the NSIC Pitcher of the Week on March 10 following a stellar week in Florida. It is the first time Miller has earned the honor in her career.
• Miller, a senior right-hander from Prior Lake, Minn., shined over the week going 4-0 with a 0.75 ERA in five appearances recording 32 strikeouts in 28 innings and allowing just three earned runs at THE Spring Games.
• In her first appearance of the trip on March 3, Miller tossed a four-hit complete game shutout against Pittsburgh Johnstown to help SMSU win its first game of the trip.
• She followed that up with a shutout the next day, racking up a career-high 12 strikeouts in the 7-0 win over Staten Island (N.Y.).
• Miller picked up another win on March 5, striking out five batters in 5 2/3 innings against West Virginia Wesleyan before ending the week with a six-strikeout performance in six innings versus Queens (N.Y.).
HEAD COACH BAILEY BOUMAN
•
Bailey Bouman is in her seventh season as head coach at SMSU with an overall record of 141-171, including 75-95 in NSIC play.
• The 11th head coach in program history, Bouman was named to the position on Aug. 8, 2018.
• SMSU finished with a 19-32 overall mark in 2024, missing the NSIC tournament by one game.
Abby Boxrud and
Paris Van Dyke became the first Mustangs to earn All-NSIC Defensive honors in the Bouman era.
• The Mustangs finished the 2023 season 17-32 and missed the NSIC Tournament for the first time in three seasons.
• SMSU finished 21-31 in 2022 and won its second NSIC Tournament game in consecutive seasons.
• The Mustangs finished 27-20 in 2021, their best season since 2011, while winning their first NSIC tournament game since Bouman's first season in 2019.
• SMSU finished 19-26 during her first season in 2019 and qualified for the NSIC Tournament.
• Bouman was an assistant coach with the SMSU women's basketball program from 2015-17 and was also an assistant women's basketball coach at Dordt College (Iowa) before returning to SMSU.
• Bouman is a 2014 graduate of the University of Sioux Falls where she played both basketball and softball for the Cougars.

• SMSU picked up a key win in a NSIC doubleheader split with the Concordia-St. Paul Golden Bears last Saturday

Jordyn Marsh (10) recorded her 10th save after holding CSP hitless in the final inning.
• SMSU tallied 10 hits in the win, with
Riley Kramolisch and
Grace Anderson recording two apiece.
• CSP completely flipped the script in game two, piling in eight hits across three innings to jump out to a 6-0 lead heading into the fourth.

Morgyn Otte (10-10) was dealt the loss after allowing six runs (four earned) on seven hits and a walk with a strikeout in 2 2/3 innings.
Jordyn Marsh tossed the remainder of the game, allowing an unearned run on four hits and a walk while grabbing a pair of strikeouts.
MUSTANG EXTRA BASES

Riley Kramolisch leads SMSU batting .355 with 21 RBI and 37 runs scored while ranking first on the team with 65 hits and total bases (70).

Abby Russell is hitting .327 with 28 RBI and six doubles while ranking second on the team with 69 total bases.
•
Abby Boxrud is batting .308 and leads the team with 39 runs scored while batting in 12 runs. Boxrud ranks third in the nation and leads the NSIC in sacrifice bunts per game (0.44).
•
Emma Humpal is hitting .308 with six extra-base hits and 29 RBI while drawing 11 nine walks. Humpal is fourth in the nation and first in the NSIC in sacrifice flies with six.

Lexi Ingalls leads the Mustangs with 12 extra-base hits. She has recorded 20 RBI and scored 19 runs.
• SMSU is averaging 4.6 runs per game and batting .290

Karlie Miller (13-10) leads the team with 99 strikeouts in 148 1/3 innings pitched. Miller has a 2.93 ERA with 16 complete games and three shutouts.

Jordyn Marsh (6-3) has tallied 89 strikeouts in 85 innings. She is first in the nation and NSIC with 10 saves.
• SMSU has a team ERA of 2.99 in 342 innings with 261 strikeouts. Opponents are averaging 3.8 runs per game and batting .264

Karlie Miller ranks third in team history in starts (94) and complete games (66), fourth in innings pitched (570) and strikeouts (379), seventh in shutouts (8), and eighth in wins (39).
• Senior
Abby Russell is second all-time in assists (453), fifth in hits (210), triples (10), and doubles (39), while ranking sixth in stolen base pct. (.939), seventh in total bases (293), eighth in stolen bases (31), 10th in runs scored (112), and 13th in RBI (91).
• Sophomore
Paris Van Dyke ranks first in all-time in fielding pct. (.992) and ranks 10th in putouts (618).
• Freshman
Jordyn Marsh is moving through the ranks quickly, already sitting second all-time in saves (10) and combined shutouts (4) while ranking fourth in games finished (31).
SCOUTING MINNESOTA STATE
• MSU holds an 79-24 advantage in the all-time series which began during the 1975 season.
• The Mavericks are currently on a 14-game win streak in the series, dating back to 2019.
• The last meeting in Marshall happened on April 27, 2024, resulting in a Minnesota State sweep.
• SMSU is 10-38 all-time in games played on the road.
MUSTANGS EARN POSTSEASON HONORS IN 2024
• SMSU had two players receive accolades following the 2024 season.
• Right fielder,
Abby Boxrud, and first baseman,
Paris Van Dyke, were both selected to the All-NSIC Defensive team.
• Boxrud started every game in right field last season and led both SMSU and the NSIC with a 1.000 field pct. on 68 putouts.
• Van Dyke made 43 starts at first base finishing second in the league in fielding pct. (.997), fourth in fielding double plays (13), and ninth in putouts (305).
SMSU PICKED 10TH IN NSIC PRESEASON POLL
• SMSU was chosen 10th in the NSIC Preseason Coaches' Poll as voted on by the league's 15 head coaches.
