SMITHVILLE, Mo. – The Southwest Minnesota State University women's golf team recorded an opening round score of 49-over-par 337 and is currently in ninth place at the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference Championship. The 54-hole, 12-team championship is being played at the par-72, 5,853-yard, Paradise Pointe - Outlaw Course.
Mallory Uselman fired SMSU's low round on Friday with a 10-over 82 with eight pars and two birdies to sit in a tie for 25
th in the 60-player field. Uselman recorded a par, birdie or bogey in 17 of the 18 holes, but suffered a nine on the par 4, 14
th hole.
Danielle Podoll is 31st after carding a score of 11-over 83 with two birdies and seven pars during the round.
Isabella Jacobs shot a 12-over 84 with a birdie and seven pars and is tied for 32
nd.
Berkley Steffen had one birdie and five pars on her way to a 16-over 88 and is tied for 44
th place, while
Meghan Pundsack shot a 17-over 89 with two birdies and four pars and is in a tie for 48
th place.
Minnesota State is the first-round leader with a round of 12-over 300, with Sioux Falls in second place at 23-over 311. Maggie Veenendall from Sioux Falls is the individual leader with a 1-under 71.
Round two is scheduled to begin on Saturday at 9 a.m. with tee times.
