MARSHALL, Minn. – Four members of the Southwest Minnesota State University women's track & field team and one member of the SMSU men's track & field team earned spots on the 2025 College Sports Communicators (CSC) Academic All-District team announced on Tuesday.
Named to the all-district team from the women's team include senior
Sierra Clifford, senior
Nadia Sanford, sophomore
Christine Sleeter and senior
Shealyn Tom. Named to the all-district team from the men's team is junior
Deekon Anvid.
The 2025 Academic All-District® track & field/cross country teams, selected by College Sports Communicators, recognize the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances in the athletic realm and in the classroom. The CSC Academic All-America® program separately recognizes honorees in four divisions — NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III and NAIA.
To be eligible for CSC Academic All-District honors, nominees must have a 3.50 cumulative GPA, complete one full calendar year at their current institution and be at least a sophomore both academically and athletically. They must also have a Top 50 regional ranking performance in a single event during the track & field season, or a Top 50 performance at the 2024 NCAA region cross country meet.
Clifford, a native of Hayward, Wis., earns CSC Academic All-District accolades for the third straight year and is a six-time Academic All-NSIC honoree. A biology major, she had the 29
th fastest time in the Central Region during the outdoor season in the 400 meters at 56.14.
Sanford, a physical education/health teaching major from Oak Grove, Minn., earns CSC Academic All-District honors for the third straight year. A five-year member the track & field team and eight-time Academic All-NSIC honoree, Sanford earned All-NSIC honors in the shot put at the 2025 NSIC Indoor Championships with a second-place toss of 13.54m. During the outdoor season, she ranked 25
th in the hammer (50.65m) and 31
st in both the shot put (13.10m) and the discus (43.97m) in the region.
Sleeter, a physical education major from Suring, Wis., is a two-year member of the track & field team and earned Academic All-NSIC honors during both the indoor and outdoor seasons in 2025. She recorded a mark of 1.68m in the high jump during the indoor season to rank 13
th in the region, while her height of 1.68m in the high jump during the outdoor season ranked 12
th in the region.
Tom, has been a four-year member of the track & field team and earns CSC Academic All-District accolades for the third straight season. An art major from Brea, Calif., Tom is a six-time Academic All-NSIC honoree. She ranked 41
st in the region in the pole vault with a mark of 3.35m. She redshirted during the outdoor season.
Anvid, a native of Culver, Minn., and a four-year member of the program, earns CSC Academic All-District honors for the second time (2023). He sat out as a redshirt during the 2024 track season. This past indoor season he ranked 36
th in the region in the weight throw (16.63m), while during the outdoor season he ranked 12
th in the region in the discus (52.34m) and 49
th in the hammer throw (48.94m).
The Division II and III CSC Academic All-America® programs are partially financially supported by the NCAA Division II and III national governance structures to assist CSC with handling the awards fulfillment aspects for the 2024-25 Divisions II and III Academic All-America®
programs.
