MARSHALL, Minn. – The Southwest Minnesota State University women's and men's track & field teams competed in its final meet prior to the conference championships on Friday setting two schools, while recording one first-place finish at the Maverick Open hosted by Minnesota State.
Jacob Kunkel set a school record in the high jump clearing 2.02m to finish in second place, while
Colton Johnson set a new school mark in the long jump at 7.0m to also place second overall.
Roel Palomo won the 600 meters with a time of 1:23.41.
Brad Tang finished second in the 60 meters with a time of 6.90.
Michelle Marquard cleared 3.50m in the pole vault to earn fifth place.
Kyra Kusnierek ran 1:42.81 to place fifth in the 600 meters with teammate
Marissa Pabst in sixth place at 1:44.64.
Seely Stockmoe led the Mustangs in the weight throw with a seventh-place mark of 15.21m.
Emily Lorentz and
Kennedy Stanford finished seventh and eighth in the shot put with marks of 12.43m and 12.24m respectively.
SMSU will now turn its attention to the NSIC Championships on Friday and Saturday inside Myers Field House in Mankato, Minn.
