HUDSON, Wis. – The Southwest Minnesota State women's golf team is tied for eighth place following round one of the 14-team Minnesota State/Concordia-St. Paul Fall Brawl played at the par 71 Troy Burne Golf Club on Monday.
SMSU and Minnesota Crookston each shot an opening round score of 41-over-par 325 and trail sixth place Sioux Falls and Concordia-St. Paul by two strokes and fifth place UMary by five strokes. Minnesota State sits in first place with a score of 17-over 301 and leads second place Northwest Missouri State by six shots.
Isabella Jacobs put together an outstanding round for the Mustangs, shooting a career-low 2-over 73 to sit in a third place tie in the 79-player field. Jacobs carded two birdies and 12 pars before suffering a double-bogey on the final hole. Emerson Garlie from Minnesota State is the round one leader with an ever par 71, holding a one-shot lead over Keira Ronsick from Washburn (Kan.)
Berkley Steffen is tied for 34
th following a round of 11-over 82 with one birdie and eight pars.
Allie Nedved and
Carly Hamman both shot rounds of 14-over 85 to sit in a tie for 53
rd. Nedved closed the round with one birdie and eight pars, while Nedved finished with one birdie and four pars.
Meghan Pundsack made six pars and one birdie on her way to a 16-over 87 and is in a tie for 62
nd.
Roni Hook played as an individual and is currently in 76
th place with a score of 20-over 91.
The final round begins on Tuesday at 10 a.m. with a shotgun start.
