BURNSVILLE, Minn. – Southwest Minnesota State University's
Virginia Pruitt was awarded the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference Offensive Player of the Week on Monday afternoon, after an announcement from the league office in Burnsville, Minn.
Pruitt, a freshman forward from Cashmere, Wash., scored two first half goals and provided one second half assist for the Mustangs in their 6-0 win against Dakota State on Sunday.
Pruitt's five total points led the NSIC in the opening weekend of the season.
This marks the first time since 2023 that an SMSU soccer player received a player of the week award.
SMSU and Pruitt will look to continue their strong start to the season when they host Upper Iowa on Friday, Sept. 12, at 3 p.m., before traveling south to play Fort Hays State (Kan.) on Sunday, Sept. 14, at 12 p.m.
