COLLEGEVILLE, Minn. – The Southwest Minnesota State women's and men's track & field teams put together a strong day earning numerous first-place finishes, while setting a pair of school records at the CSB/SJU Valentine's Day Open on Saturday.
Both records were set in the 60 meters with
Brad Tang setting the men's new record crossing the line first at 6.88, breaking the previous record of 6.90 set in 2016.
Michelle Marquard won the women's 60 meters with a time of 7.79, breaking the record of 7.83 set in 2016. She also won the pole vault at the meet clearing 3.57m.
Marissa Pabst crossed the line first in the women's 800 meters at 2:31.04, while
Kyra Kusnierek finished second in the women's 600 meters at 1:44.12.
Colton Johnson won the men's triple jump at 14.42m with
Peda Zeba in second place at 14.04m.
Jacob Kunkel and
Ryan Kronbach went 1-2 in the high jump clearing 1.98m.
Chaden Carroll cleared 4.49m in the pole vault to finish second.
Deekon Anvid captured first in the men's weight throw with a toss of 15.86, while
Emily Lorentz recorded a first-place toss of 16.60m in the women's weight throw with teammate
Seely Stockmoe earning second place at 16.03m.
Stockmoe won the women's shot put at 12.50m with Lorentz in fourth place at 12.09m.
Cody Evers finished second in the men's 60-meter hurdles with a time of 8.58, while
Allison Watts finished second in the women's 60-meter hurdles with a time of 9.32, while teammate
Jada Backes was fourth at 9.58.
Dylan Schwarz ran 23.43 in the men's 200 meters to finish fifth, while
Peyton Hooper closed in sixth place at 23.53. Schwarz also earned a fourth-place time of 51.68 in the 400 meters.
Christine Sleeter finished second in the women's high jump at 1.61m.
BT Teboh placed second in the men's long jump at 6.73m with Johnson right behind in third-place at 6.60m.
Ella Doble earned fifth place in the women's 200 meters with a time of 27.18.
Roel Palomo ran 2:37.16 to finish fourth in the 1,000 meters.
Josh Coulby picked up a third-place finish in the shot put at 14.90m.
SMSU will have its final meet prior to the conference championship on Friday, Feb. 20, at the Minnesota State Maverick Open.
