The Southwest Minnesota State University softball team (14-12) begins NSIC play this weekend with a pair of doubleheaders, first facing Minnesota State Moorhead (2-21) on Friday beginning at 2 p.m., and Minnesota Crookston (6-19) on Saturday with game one slated to start at 10 a.m.

RECAP OF THE MUSTANGS' TRIP TO FLORIDA
The Mustangs went 8-8 in the team's 16-game spring break schedule.
SMSU began competition in THE Spring Games with a 3-1 record including two wins over Seton Hill (Pa.).
The Mustangs continued winning ways, holding a 6-2 record over eight games, adding a third win over Seton Hill, and defeating Northwood (Mich.) as well as Glenville State (W. Va.)
SMSU had a pair of doubleheaders against Tampa and Florida Southern outside of THE Spring Games, in which the team would go 0-4.
Coach Bouman's team would finish THE Spring Games with an 8-4 record after picking up wins over Point Park (Pa.) and Lynn (Fla.).

MUSTANGS BY THE NUMBERS
Jordyn Marsh (10-3) leads the Mustangs on the mound with a 1.43 ERA with 81 strikeouts and a batting average against of .209. The sophomore is also one of four players with a .300 batting average and a home run.
Senior
Riley Kramolisch ramped up the offense in Florida and currently leads the team with a .370 batting average. 24 of Kramolisch's 34 hits came in the 16-game stretch in Floirida.
Freshman
Aliza Acker is second in hits with 23, and leads the team in doubles with six, while
Grace Anderson is hitting .317 with four doubles and a home run. Anderson is second on the team with 14 RBIs.
Junior
Emma Humpal leads the team with two home runs and 16 RBIs and is one of five players with double-digit walks.
Freshman third-baseman
Carley Stych is third on the team with 12 RBIs, with a .262 batting average, and two doubles.
Freshman
Ramsey Hopp (4-8) has a 3.56 ERA in 74 2/3 innings, allowing 103 hits and 50 runs (38 earned), striking out 29 batters.

HEAD COACH BAILEY BOUMAN
Bailey Bouman is in her seventh season as head coach at SMSU with an overall record of 155-186, including 75-97 in NSIC play.
The 11th head coach in program history, Bouman was named to the position on Aug. 8, 2018.
The Mustangs finished the 2025 campaign with a 29-26 record, the second winning record for Bouman as head coach, with a 11-17 NSIC record and a ninth-place finish in the conference.
SMSU finished with a 19-32 overall mark in 2024.
Abby Boxrud and
Paris Van Dyke became the first Mustangs to earn All-NSIC Defensive honors in the Bouman era.
The Mustangs finished the 2023 season 17-32 and missed the NSIC Tournament for the first time in three seasons.
SMSU finished 21-31 in 2022 and won its second NSIC Tournament game in consecutive seasons.
The Mustangs finished 27-20 in 2021, their best season since 2011, while winning their first NSIC tournament game since Bouman's first season in 2019.
SMSU finished 19-26 during her first season in 2019 and qualified for the NSIC Tournament.
Bouman was an assistant coach with the SMSU women's basketball program from 2015-17 and was also an assistant women's basketball coach at Dordt College (Iowa) before returning to SMSU.
Bouman is a 2014 graduate of the University of Sioux Falls where she played both basketball and softball for the Cougars.

SERIES HISTORY AGAINST THE DRAGONS
The Mustangs will meet Minnesota State Moorhead for the 123

th time on Friday with SMSU leading the series 85-37 all time.
The series is tied 5-5 in the past 10 meetings; however, the Mustangs hold a 1-3 record in the last four games played in Moorhead.
Bailey Bouman has a 7-5 record against MSUM as head coach at SMSU.

SMSU faces Minnesota Crookston for the 54

th time on Saturday. The Mustangs hold a 48-5 record all time against the Golden Eagles.
The series is tied 3-3 in the last six games, with the Mustangs holding a 2-0 record in neutral site games.
Coach Bouman holds a 9-3 record against UMC.
