MARSHALL, Minn. – Due to field conditions and expected poor weather on Sunday, the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference on Wednesday confirmed changes for the Southwest Minnesota State conference opening softball games versus MSU Moorhead and Minnesota Crookston this weekend.
SMSU will now play all four games in Moorhead at SCHEELS Field at Nemzek Stadium on the campus of MSU Moorhead. The Mustangs will face MSU Moorhead on Friday with a doubleheader starting at 2 p.m., while on Saturday, SMSU will battle Minnesota Crookston for a doubleheader beginning at 10 a.m.
SMSU was originally scheduled to play at MSU on Saturday and at UMC on Sunday.
SMSU begins conference play with a record of 14-12. MSUM opens league play at 2-21, while UMC, which plays Sioux Falls on Friday in Moorhead, is 6-19 overall.
